Sometimes what we need from the Bible is not the fulfillment of our dream, but the swallowing up of our failed dream in the all-satisfying glory of Christ.

What do you guys think about this quote? Do you get it? When I first read it, something just clicked about it, but I find that I can't explain it in my own words. The concept is whole and cannot be separated into individual syllables. Can you gus explain it in different terms?

I agree that it's an awesome quote Jill! I hope this sums up what it means to me:
I am an utter failure in and of myself. Christ alone is my glory. I need not "know myself," I need not dwell in morbid introspection at all the ways I have failed, in all the dreams that I've botched... For that would put me flat on my face in utter despair. I need desperately to be "swallowed up in Christ," clothed in HIS righteousness! May I patiently rest in what HE has done for me, and what He is still going to do for me,--for that is glorifing to Him, and therein, lies joy and peace, and liberating freedom. That quotes seems to speak of freedom from oneself. Oh what bliss to be free from myself and my wretchedness, and to make Christ my utter joy and glory.
Why do I not live that way consistently?!?! Why oh why?
